Researcher in educational technology and digital learning for children and students on all levels, on the basis of cognitive science and from a learning science-perspective. I am a course director in the university's first international Master program in digital learning. I am actively engaged in the public debate on the use of educational technologies and evidence-based practice in schools. My research pertains to how the combination of digital and analogue tools can be optimized for educational aims. Some recent projects along these lines include Concept-based Modeling (CBM) in engineering education, the relationship between computer gaming and academic learning in secondary school and beyond, and learning-productive use of generative AI (GenAI), such as ChatGPT, for students and teachers.
Some overarching questions of interest are:
How can we learn better with technology? What makes some educational software better, and some worse? When does technology, such as GenAI and educational software, actually provide "added value" in education?
