Anna Hansson holds a PhD in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and is a senior lecturer in Environmental Science at the Department of Environmental and Biosciences.
She is a member of the research group ProActS about Promoting resource efficiency, co-creative Actions, and innovation for Sustainable transition.
She conducts research with emphasis on business managers’ incentives for adopting innovation processes to capture sustainability value connected to ecosystem services. As part of this research, she focuses on how facilitation of biogas production and wetland construction through intermediaries can support business model innovation processes for sustainability. By developing business models that can capture a broad range of sustainability value, the aim is to find win-win solution between business interests and environmental concerns. A key aspect is to further understand how governmental compensation systems towards business can be based on systematic monitoring of outcomes of environmental measures to create incentives amongst businesses to optimize production of environmental benefits.
Recently, the research has developed towards sustainable transition through circular economy and industrial symbioses based on biogas production. This is explored through studies about barriers and drivers for sustainability business change, and evaluation of digital maturity in the biogas value chain, which acts as basis to facilitate sustainable resource use and marketplace development.
Anna teaches on both bachelor and master level. Currently, she is mainly involved in the bachelor programme, Environment, Innovation, and Sustainability 180 ECTS. Her teaching focuses on sustainable development with a circularity perspective and highlights the role of sustainable business development as part of reaching global sustainability goals. Annas teaching puts emphasis on cooperation with the business sector and surrounding society, and always includes equality perspectives.
