Johan Alfonsson is PhD in sociology, assistant lecturer and a ostdoc.
He completed his dissertation in 2020 on the thesis "Alienation and Work. The Condition of Young On-Call Employees in Flexible Capitalism"
Alfonsson's research mainly concerns questions about different forms of working life precarity.
He has been participating since February 2021 in the Forte-financed research project "Low-wage jobs on the Swedish labor market 2005-2020. What are the jobs, where are they and what explains their development?". The project studies the emergence of low-wage jobs in Sweden, who is at risk of ending up in them and why they have emerged
Since August 2022, he has also been doing research on gig work, its development and how the form of work affects the workers ability to steer thier life
From January 2023, within the framework of a Forte-financed postdoc, he will investigate how split shifts affect employees in elderly care
