Generative AI in Upper Secondary School STEM Education: Exploring Students’ Interactions with LMMs and AI Literacy among Students and Teachers
The PhD project focuses on the integration of Generative AI, specifically Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, in upper secondary school STEM education.
The project aims to explore the challenges and possibilities of introducing such technologies, particularly focusing on ChatGPT’s impact on students’ and teachers’ AI literacy within STEM education.
The project is characterised by different methodological approaches across four studies, incorporating surveys, interviews, co-creation workshops, and analysis of interactions with AI tools. This approach is framed within the Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPACK) and Activity Theory to analyze the educational integration of AI.
The project seeks to contribute to understanding the role of AI literacy in education, the interaction between students, teachers, and AI, and develop strategies for effectively integrating AI into STEM education.
