PREVENT – Prevention of natural disasters using deep technology for advanced HEI curricula

The PREVENT project aims to raise awareness among Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) about early warning systems by providing an innovative curriculum that incorporates deep technologies for natural disaster prevention. By involving HEIs in co-created methodological solutions, the project fosters long-term collaboration between deep tech experts, students, and local communities.

Skills gaps across industries are growing, and more skilled workers are needed to respond to advances in smart technologies, AI, blockchain, robotics, and PLCs. The smart solutions developed through PREVENT's training, Open Living Labs, and Virtual Learning Labs will address climate change and natural disasters while providing technical skills aligned with labor market demands, such as programming and software development, alongside essential soft skills like creative thinking and problem-solving.

The PREVENT project addresses the need for natural disaster prevention, promotes environmental sustainability, and advances digital education in HE institutions. The project aims to update HE curricula in engineering and upskill students in deep technologies, increasing their employability and competitiveness in the labor market. Additionally, it seeks to reduce gender disparity in programming and ICT-related fields by encouraging female participation in pilot testing, training, and workshops.

Overall, PREVENT will increase HE students' awareness of deep technologies for natural disaster prevention, facilitate knowledge exchanges with experts, and create affiliations to enhance employability and community engagement. The project aligns with priorities of fighting climate change and environmental issues while addressing digital transformation through the development of digital readiness, resilience, and capacity.
