iMedA: digital support for high blood pressure
iMedA is research study and project to develop a digital application as a support to increase medication adherence and self-care for persons with high blood pressure.
What is iMedA?
iMedA stands for Improving Medication Adherence through Person-Centered Care and Adaptive Interventions and is a research study in collaboration between Halmstad University and Region Halland. Within this study, we will develop a mobile application to support persons with hypertension in different ways. This can for example be by reminding them to take the medication, providing education regarding hypertension, medication and lifestyle, bring motivation to take action as well as increase awareness about health status and the consequences of high blood pressure.
The purpose of iMedA is to improve the quality of life in a long term perspective. The projekt aims to improve blood pressure control and taking medications in persons with hypertension through adaptive and personalised support.
How can you help us as a person with hypertension?
It is a unique opportunity to be part of a research study and have the possibility to influence the different components of the mobile application that will be developed to support people with high blood pressure. You can participate in this study:
- first by attending group discussions, along with your peers, to share your knowledge and experience about medication intake and lifestyle changes with regards to your high blood pressure. This will be used to guide the design of the iMedA mobile application.
- second, by using the developed iMedA app for a few weeks to assess and test the different functionalities of the developed application. Then you will share your experience and assessment in a group discussion.
You can also participate in the longer evaluation of the final version of the iMedA app in further months.
How does iMedA mobile application help you?
It will help you to take better control of your high blood pressure management in your daily life.
What does it do?
Support self-management:
- Remind you to take the medication.
- Educate you regarding hypertension and its consequences.
- Get adapted to you.
What does it not do?
- It does not give you any medical advice regarding changes in your medication or treatment plan.
- It does not communicate with your healthcare center directly. If you need to meet a physician or if you are in need of urgent medical assistance (due to your high blood pressure or something else), you need to contact your doctor yourself.
Who should you contact to participate?
