I am a senior lecturer in Public Health, and my professional background is as physiotherapist and ergonomist. I have a PhD in Medical Science.
My research is characterized by my interest in finding early indicators for ill health. I had my dissertation in 2015 at Karolinska Institutet, IMM, unit for occupational health. The name of my thesis was “Markers of stress as predictors of wellbeing and workability”. Through the work of my thesis, I found that sleep disorders predict sickness absence among individuals with low back pain, and that sleep seems to be of importance for the risk for developing chronic pain.
Since my dissertation I have continued to study predictive factors for development of chronic pain in studies of general population, but I have also expanded my area of focus to include other common disorders and risk groups. In the project “Mental health in young adult cancer survivors”, a cohort including young adults who have survived pediatric cancer are followed to study their health during transition to adulthood. In the project “SLEEP – a sleep intervention for children and adolescents with neuropsychiatric disorders”, the effect of a sleep intervention with weighted blankets is studied in children with ADHD. The study has a RCT design.
I work in close collaboration with researchers at R&D Spenshult. The project ”Objectively measured physical load and development of knee OA” is part of a larger project called HALLOA (Halland knee osteoarthritis cohort). The project is located at R&D Spenshult.
