Working with
Dr. Fåhraeus is Head of English and responsible for the university-wide Curriculum Core course Fiction, Empathy and social sustainability. She wrote her dissertation Black Males and White Masculinity in Four Renaissance Tragedies of Blood (2008) at Gothenburg University. She started working at Halmstad University in 2006 and has since also studied history at Oxford University.
Dr. Fåhraeus runs the Empathy Lab at Halmstad University with Jörgen Öijervall and they have worked with the Halland County libraries and psychiatric health professionals in order to promote an increased understanding of the dynamics of empathy through the study and discussion of fiction. Her research interests include cognitive approaches to literature and digital reading. Within English literature specifically, she is currently working on a project that looks at lesbian representation during the Modernist period in the United States.
