Presentation of Professors and Honorary Doctor
Ingrid Larsson has a background as a nurse and a burning interest in strengthening the patient’s role, where the patient takes power over their life and their treatment and becomes a co-actor in the care process. Her journey from clinically active nurse to professor reflects a deep commitment to improving patients’ health and quality of life.
The lecture will be in Swedish.
Language is alive and reflects our identities and interpersonal relationships. By constantly questioning and exploring the underlying message of language, Linnea Gustafsson, Professor of Swedish Language at Halmstad University, looks beyond words and studies the use of language in our society.
The lecture will be in Swedish.
Ross Friel, recently appointed Professor of Electronics focusing on advanced digital manufacturing at Halmstad University, is researching how digital systems can enhance manufacturing processes. More precise and customised products are being created using computer-based design and new materials, unlocking new possibilities in areas such as autonomous vehicles and medical technology.
AI is changing the world at breakneck speed. But how do we make sure that this powerful technology is both reliable and understandable to humans? Grzegorz Nalepa develops AI systems with a human-centric approach. His research, which spans computer science, philosophy, law, and social sciences, focuses on building AI that not only works efficiently, but also resonates with human values.
Carlos N. Silla Jr. has over 20 years of experience in AI research and its practical applications. His research spans various fields such as health informatics, education, and sound analytics, where he uses AI to solve real-world problems. What fascinates him most about AI and machine learning is their ability to handle practical, real-world challenges.
For more than ten years, Sarah Pink has been a visiting professor at Halmstad University. She has been involved in developing an interdisciplinary area in information technology at Halmstad University. Sarah Pink has been involved in teaching, supervision and exchanges at doctoral level between Halmstad University and her home university, Monash University in Australia.
