AI Cyber Threats – Raising Awareness of AI-Generated Cyber Threats

The project aims to enhance understanding and detection of AI-generated cyber threats by focusing on research, training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and public awareness.

Background

AI-generated cyber threats are an increasing challenge, with sophisticated attacks enhanced by artificial intelligence becoming harder to detect. The seed project “Raising Awareness of AI-Generated Cyber Threats” seeks to improve understanding and detection of these threats through a cross-disciplinary approach.Halmstad University and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv initiated their collaboration after a Swedish-Ukrainian seminar in October 2023, organized by the Swedish Council for Higher Education. Their partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding. Since then, the universities have engaged in joint activities such as guest lectures, competitions, and participation in conferences, further strengthening their collaboration. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, one of Ukraine’s oldest universities, contributes extensive expertise and strong industry connections in cybersecurity. The collaboration is further broadened by their shared connections with the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow, Poland.

The project integrates research, development, and educational collaboration to understand AI-generated cyber threats better and incorporate this knowledge into academic training.

Research focus

  • Identifying three key research areas related to AI-generated cyber threats.
  • Developing proposals and educational content based on these areas.
