Interorganizational agility – mutual adjustment in digital ecosystems (Galago)
This research project aims to understand the challenge of “being agile together” when collaborating across organisational boundaries, and to understand the problem and work towards solutions.
Working with agile principles (iterations, reassessment of plans, frequent customer feedback, etc) can be quite challenging when collaborating over organizational borders. Keeping an adaptable mindset and using traditional agile methodologies can be quite challenging already within a company, and as technical systems grow and with them collaborations between companies grow and become tighter, this challenge increase.
This research project is looking to understand the challenge of “being agile together” with our collaborators. A research team from Halmstad University, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden and Chalmers University of Technology run a two year project financed by Vinnova together with project partners Aptiv and HaleyTek. Project end date is April 2024.
Our approach is qualitative, meaning we want to capture different perceptions and stories of people who work in contexts where both agility and collaboration with other companies are central. These stories and their overview will help us understand the problem and work towards solutions.
Note: Internally, the project is called Galago after the monkey known for its jumping ability and strong, complicated and coordinated movements - how do we become organisational Galagos?
