About the education

Innovative environments, methods and tools

The education is characterised by Halmstad University’s profiling as a university that drives innovation. With emphasis on the function and design of products, you will learn effective methods for development work.

You have access to state-of-the-art study environments such as Fab Lab, Mechanics Lab and Tribology Lab. These are different parts of the Rydberg Laboratory, an interdisciplinary lab based on applied science, with many links to technical sciences and mathematics.

The programme includes a great deal of project work in groups with the greatest possible links to industry. You translate your subject knowledge into well-researched results that you report in an engineering manner with links to both science and practice.

Courses and competencies in focus

The Master’s programme in Mechanical Engineering offers you specialised study in the main field of mechanical engineering, in the form of well-interlinked courses with a clear link to modern engineering work. You can take courses in, among other things, lightweight construction, total quality and materials and manufacturing techniques.

The programme consists of a basic block of 45 credits and a degree project of 15 credits. The teaching is in English and it has attracted many international students in recent years. The degree project is also written in English.

Collaboration opportunities

The characteristic of the program is project-based learning with close contact between students and companies. Industrial product and production development with quality in focus is a constant element of the programme.
