The aim of the course is for the student, through independent work in a technical project, to be given the opportunity to acquire, practically apply and deepen the knowledge in the chosen field of technology and develop his/her ability to work as an engineer.

Following successful completion of the course the student should be able to:

Knowledge and understanding

summarize results from current research and development that are relevant for project work in the field of mechanical engineering, sustainable design, and innovation
give an account of various methods and techniques used in research and development work within some part of the mechanical engineering field

Skills and ability

choose method and implementation for project work and critically justify the choice
model, simulate, predict, and evaluate phenomena in a manner accepted in the mechanical engineering field
independently plan and implement project work based on given time and budget frames
present and discuss the results of the work orally in different groups and in writing in a report

Judgement* and *approach

evaluate the results of the work in relation to research and development in the field
identify the own needs for additional knowledge in the area
assess own and others' work regarding the scientific, sustainable, and societal needs
