Objectives
The overall objective of the course is that the student will develop their basic theoretical and language knowledge and further develop comprehensive and effective communication skills to be able to function in an English-speaking environment. After completing the course in its entirety, the student should be able to use and understand speech in different contexts and areas.
Following successful completion of the course the student should:
Knowledge and understanding
- understand the academic, technical and general English, both from recorded sources and in social interaction
- understand and use the words and idiomatic expressions studied during the course
Skills and ability
- examine the relationships between different theories, English-language didactics as well as practical teaching methods
- identify as well as use different concepts within second language acquisition
Judgement and approach
- analyse and critically assess the content and methods of English teaching in relation to second language acquisition theories

Exercises in listening comprehension with written and oral assignments. Exercises in vocabulary.
