Objectives
The overall course objectives are that the student applies techniques and skills based on mindfulness and acceptancebased theory in working with an athleteclient. The student will reflect on their professional and ethical approach when working with clients. Under supervision, the student will independently work in sport psychology, considering equity and diversity, and initiating, implementing, and evaluating services delivered.
Following successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
Knowledge and understanding
- describe and understand theory formation and methodology within applied sport psychology and with support in current sport psychology research
- describe, explain, and understand theoretical approaches in mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches within sport psychology
- describe and understand ethical guidelines with an apparent reference to applied work in sport psychology
Skills and ability
- Apply mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches with an athlete-client in service delivery
- apply evidence-based knowledge and strategies to conduct and report independently with an athlete-client
- apply prevailing professional approaches in applied sport psychology regarding ethical guidelines
Judgement and approach
- Based on service delivery, critically evaluate methods and techniques in a written report
- critically reflect on the process and the work alliance in client work
- independently analyze, discuss, and evaluate selected methods and approaches in client work
Content
The course is based on national guidelines (the Swedish Sports Confederation and the Swedish Olympic Committee) and international guidelines (European Federation of Sport Psychology; FEPSAC) for applied work in sport psychology. The course will prepare the student for applied work in sport psychology. The student develops and implements an action plan adapted to the athlete-client. Client work includes organizing and conducting regular meetings. Based on these, will students reflect on their applied work and summarize the reflections in a report.

Teaching Formats
The teaching delivery includes lectures, seminars, workshops, supervision, exercises, and an internet-based platform for communication and teaching.
Grading scale
Examination formats
The examination consists of individually written home exams, seminar, workshops, practical work and aupervision all with compulsory participation.
The grade Pass with Distinction (VG) requires at least 15 points to be VG.
Following a completed practical work placement period, a student who has been awarded a fail grade has the right to one (1) further work placement period.

Exceptions from the specified examination format
If there are special reasons, the examiner may make exceptions from the specified examination format and allow a student to be examined in another way. Special reasons can e.g. be study support for students with disabilities.
