The research programme ProActS launches breakfast network
Yesterday, Halmstad University's research programme ProActS, which focuses on resource efficiency and sustainable transition, hosted the first meeting in a newly started breakfast network. The purpose of the network is to discuss issues related to circularity and sustainability, and to stimulate sustainable development.
The first breakfast meeting dealt with the topic of sustainable energy. Senior Lecturer Henrik Gadd talked about his research on district heating, and illustrated his presentation with examples from his time at Öresundskraft. The meeting ended with an interesting panel discussion where the participants could ask questions to researchers in Innovation Science and Construction Management, Industrial Organization, Environmental Science, Sustainable Energy, and Electronics.
"It is both rewarding and important to start up a network like this. We want to contribute to establishing contacts across organisational boundaries, and between universities and businesses, in order to create a shared knowledge about these important issues. It is only when we collaborate, and when each sector knows what the other is doing, that we can bring about real change," says Pia Ulvenblad, Associate Professor of Business Administration and one of the leaders of the research program.
Link to research
Halmstad University conducts research in sustainable energy, for instance on district heating. One of the current research projects is the EU-funded project RES4City, which aims to improve the development of sustainable renewable energy and fuel technology in cities by designing an innovative educational program, promoting sustainability and circularity, and filling knowledge and skills gaps for an achieved energy transition.
Continued networking
The network is now planning for upcoming breakfast meetings. Get in touch with us if you want to participate in the future, or if you want to suggest topics for upcoming meetings!
