Before, during and after studies at Halmstad University

The project investigates how undergraduate students’ background and ambitions influence their choice of educational programmes. The project also looks at their thoughts and attitudes during their education, how they fare in their studies, and what happens in their lives after they have finished their studies.

The project is a longitudinal case study that follows three panels of students who enrolled in undergraduate programmes at Halmstad University in 2007, 2008, and 2009. The purpose of the project is to map and analyse the relationships between the students’ background and ambitions related to their choice of study programmes, their perceptions and attitudes in their studies during
the education, and how they fare in their studies and in their lives after graduation. A particular focus of the project is to interpret the significance of structural and psychosocial factors, as well as the students’ own agency, for their situation in the labour market as well as in life in general, in a long-term perspective.
