Working with

My research focuses on the development of new functional materials using a nanocomposition approach. Instead of inventing whole new crystalline functional materials or using complex methods to control their shape and structure, I aim to mix known materials to achieve emergent or new functionality. My approach involves the dilution of single molecules, small molecular clusters or nanoparticles into a host crystal. By mixing on the nanoscale, the guests and the host materials interact to influence molecular orientation, the way the materials absorb light, how energy is transferred within and between molecules, and more. My expertise lies primarily in inorganic crystalline host phases, such as calcium carbonate and gypsum, but I am currently exploring the possibilities of organic molecular crystalline nanocomposites. I lecture in general and environmental chemistry here at Halmstad, but also other topics within scientific writing and research.
