Research Ethics
The course discusses ethical principles, good research practice, current national and international rules and regulations for research relevant to the field of health and lifestyle. Particular emphasis is placed upon the student's ability to make independent and adequate ethical considerations in relation to his/her own research area. Furthermore, research ethical aspects as well as rules and regulations are dealt with in relation to the possibilities and limitations of science and to be able to evaluate and discuss the role and benefits of research in society in relation to the integrity and risk assessment of research subjects. Research ethical considerations are also discussed in relation to how the research process is influenced by the researcher's own values and changed values in society. Knowledge regarding the protection of research subjects, GDPR, handling and storage of research data as well as how the Swedish ethics review procedure is also discussed.

A degree at second-cycle level with relevance to the research subject: health and lifestyle, as well as the module, research ethics in the Introductory Course for PhD Students 7.5 credits at Halmstad University or equivalent.
