Health and Lifestyle I

7,5 credits

The course Health and Lifestyle I focuses on concepts and theories within the field of health and lifestyle, based on knowledge traditions in health sciences, social sciences, and behavioral sciences. In addition to in-depth knowledge of health and lifestyle, students also practice critical and analytical thinking. During the course, students will independently solve challenges and dilemmas in the field of science from ethical aspects and diversity as well as equality perspectives. In the course discussions on ethical aspects, students will concentrate on questions and queries such as "what is good", "what is right", "how should you behave" and “how to minimise injury and suffering”. Students will not only discuss wellbeing, but also that health should be equal for everyone. Research has shown that people with a lower social position in society have poorer health and living habits. The course's diversity and equality perspective is based on, for example, age, gender, sexual orientation, country of birth, ethnicity, religion and functional variation.

The course is delivered over a ten-week period with lectures on campus and seminars via the learning platform. The examination assignment includes peer review of fellow students' seminar contributions and a paper.
