Collaboration within Smart Cities and Communities
To solve today’s societal challenges and develop smart cities and communities, we need to bring together experts from different research areas and different parts of society. The intention of the focus area is that collaboration will lead to new knowledge and practical solutions that address societal challenges.

Through co-production between academia, public organisations, companies and the civil society, perspectives, knowledge and expertise from different sectors are mixed.
Strategic partnerships
Halmstad University is one of Sweden’s strongest universities when it comes to collaboration and has entered into a number of strategic partnerships with both companies and public organisations. Some of these are directly linked to the work of the focus area. This applies to Region Halland, Halmstad Municipality, Varberg Municipality, the County Administrative Board of Halland, Stena Recycling AB and HMS Networks AB.
Innovation and collaboration arenas
At Halmstad University, there are a number of innovation and collaboration arenas that are important for the focus area. Here, researchers, students and external partners meet in both dialogue and projects.
Collaborate with the focus area
The focus area can help partners develop innovative solutions that improve urban life and public services, as well as promote sustainable growth in a way that is both economically viable and socially inclusive. Our purpose is to facilitate collaboration and co-production between partners and researchers, as well as between partners.
With the help of your expertise, ideas and active participation, we can identify challenges and together develop solutions that meet the specific needs of small and medium-sized cities.
