SpeedUpArena Halland – towards sustainable materials and circular business models

The project aims to increase the use of research results by lowering the thresholds for technology transfer between universities, industry and business supporting actors in Halland. The project focuses on sustainable materials, but also how the business model needs to be developed to transition towards sustainable and circular material solutions.

The project is aimed at all manufacturing companies in Halland, especially companies that are interested in new bio-based product solutions. Initiatives in the form of seminars, workshops, study trips and lectures will contribute to companies obtaining tools and methods for transitioning to more circular products and manufacturing processes by using new material solutions. Furthermore, the project intends to develop an infrastructure and create education that supports continued development and transition towards circular solutions by establishing a Halland materials academy.

Project objectives

The project’s goal is to increase the innovation capacity of small and medium-sized companies by increasing knowledge about sustainable materials. Restructuring of companies, support systems and academia is necessary to achieve the global goals. The project will create sustainable structures for increased use of research results by lowering the thresholds for technology transfer between academia, industry and business support. A quantitative study is being carried out to find out what the conditions for transition are in Halland. A main objective is to identify which arenas are needed to build the innovation system around sustainable materials in Halland and thus build the infrastructure for the actors and companies in the target group.
