Solar farming in our agricultural landscape

Today, there are divided opinions about whether solar cells on agricultural land exclude the possibility of growing crops on the same land. But there are solutions where agriculture and solar energy can coexist – this is called agrivoltaics, or as we call it; solar farming systems. In the project Solar farming in our agricultural landscape, we will test and evaluate different solar farming systems.

The project's feasibility study has shown that there is limited research and experience on how solar farming systems can be designed to enable efficient solar energy production while maintaining or improving food production. In the project, we will therefore test what types of crops, agricultural machinery and energy storage systems can be combined in practice. With the knowledge that we develop in the project, it will lay the foundation for a long-term and sustainable Living Lab. A dynamic platform for building and disseminating knowledge about solar farming systems. The project will develop four Living Labs, two in Denmark and two in Sweden.

Solar farming in our agricultural landscape is an Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak project and is co-financed by EU funds. The project concerns the Interreg and EU goal of promoting renewable electricity supply options.
