Masterkey RFID

This project is called Masterkey RFID and it is about Radio-frequency identification, and finding a wireless way to identify keys inside a key cabinet for the company Medarca, based in Malmö, via Sigma Industry Evolution. Medarca produces technical solutions, and different kinds of lockers, mainly for assisted living. The Masterkey product line is designed to automatically handle administration regarding keys efficiently. Masterkey works as an old-fashioned key cabinet, with the exception that the only function is not storage. Masterkey offers a structured environment as every key has its specific position, and to open the locker and obtain a key the user has to present a personal password or access card. This keeps track of who has got which key and ensures that a key is either in its position inside the locker or in use.
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is a technology that wirelessly identifies objects with the use of electromagnetic fields. This technology comes in a lot of different forms and is being used in various settings, especially since the design of the radio transponders is quite versatile. This project uses commercial low-frequency RFID readers combined with standard EM 4100 tags.
