The effects of a multi-module intervention designed for increasing critical thinking among upper secondary school students
The project’s full title is “The effects of a multi-module intervention designed for increasing critical thinking and identifying misinformation, desinformation and conspiracy theories in a population of students in upper secondary school”. The project aims at contributing knowledge about how misinformation, disinformation and dissemination of conspiracy theories among adoloscents can be understood and prevented.
The main aim of the project is to empirically evaluate the combination of an app (Bad news) and a course (TiDaCT), which both aim at training the capacity to identify disinformation and conspiracy theories in a population of students in upper secondary school.
Specifically the study will:
- investigate differences in pre-, post-, and follow-up effects, on the variables mentioned above, between the experiment group (app + TiDaCT) and an inactive control group
- investigate within-group effects in the experiment group on the investigated variables
- evaluate the usefulness of the intervention-modules by using a focus group approach.
