“Engaging with researchers and exchanging experiences with fellow participants was invaluable”

During fall 2023, Bozina Stesevic was one of the participants in the Swedish Institute-course “Collaborative Governance in a Digital Era” at Halmstad University. At the moment he works as a program manager at Association for Democratic Prosperity, Zid, in Montenegro.

Why did you want to study the course Collaborative Governance in a Digital Era?

“I was keen on taking the course as it offered a unique opportunity to delve into the difficulties of contemporary public administration within the context of evolving digital trends. At first sight, it represented an opportunity to connect with innovative practices and examples. These represent a knowledge leap between common practices in our region and state of the art examples of collaborative governance”, says Bozina Stesevic.

What was the best parts of the course?

“The most remarkable aspect of the course was the comprehensive approach it took in integrating theory and practical applications. Engaging with researchers and educators from Halmstad University and exchanging experiences with fellow participants was invaluable. The course emphasised the intersection between collaborative governance and digitalisation, providing a deep understanding of their relationship.”

What is the most important takeaway from the course?

“The most important learning was the practical strategies and insights gained to address policy challenges within our context, through collaborative governance methods enhanced by digital advancements.”

Can you use knowledge or experiences from the course in your work already? In the future?

“At the Association for Democratic Prosperity, Zid, we implement registered living labs in our country, focused on developing innovative practices through collaborative methods. The knowledge and experiences gained from the course have significantly contributed to strengthening capacities in further implementation of living labs. Next to that, it gave a significant perspective in developing policy that include collaborative governance elements when developing participation practices.”

“In the future, I foresee utilizing these learnings extensively, particularly in contributing to more effective policy implementations and fostering enhanced collaboration within my professional sphere.”

“I wholeheartedly recommend this course to fellow young professionals passionate about reshaping governance paradigms. The comprehensive nature of the programme and its practical approach provide an invaluable toolkit for those eager to make a tangible impact in the ever-evolving landscape of public administration.”
