I work with education and research and I am a member of the research programme LeaDS (Learning in the Digital Society). Within LeaDS, I am part of Theme 3 with focus on lifelong learning in the digital society. Recently I was part of the research team DIGIKIDS with colleagues from Lund University and Malmö University, and we finished a four-year project, financed by the Swedish Research Council (https://portal.research.lu.se/sv/projects/små-barns-digitala-vardagsliv-a-day-in-the-digital-lives-of-0-3-y). The project was about very young children’s digital everyday life. One part of the project was focused on children’s digital skills which is an example of what could be included in the theme of lifelong learning within LeaDS. During the years 2017 – 2019, I was part in the Belgian research project IM2MEDIATE (Image of/on Immigrants in Media: Thought-provoking Effects), where we studied news media’s reporting on refugees during the years 2015 – 2017 in Swedish and Belgian news media.

My research interest concerns media’s role and significance in individuals’ everyday life. Focus has been on children, adolescents, and news media. I defended my Ph.D. dissertation 2004 at the Department of Journalism, Media and Communication, Gothenburg University, and my thesis work was about children and newspapers.

I have worked at Halmstad University since 2015, and before that I worked at Jönköping University for more than 20 years. For several years, I have had a special interest in the internationalization of higher education. I am the International Advisor for School of Health and Welfare (HOV). For six years I was the Programme Director for the Master programme in Nordic Welfare, a one-year international master that was launched in 2017. I am engaged in lecturing at different programmes but mainly tied to the bachelor programme in Media and Communication Studies. I am an awarded Excellent teacher.
