Working with

Pontus Wärnestål (he/him) is an award-winning Service Designer and Human-Computer Interaction researcher, with 20+ years of work experience in User Experience, Service Design, and Human-Centered AI. He serves as Deputy Professor in Information Technology, and is the author of 40+ scientific papers and books, including "Designing AI-Powered Services". For his PhD dissertation he studied design and development of user-adaptive recommender systems using human-centered design and artificial intelligence. Pontus is passionate about teaching and is an experienced public speaker.

Pontus led the design and creation of the Bachelor program Digital Design and Innovation given at the Informatics department from 2013. He leads the design track in the MAISTR program for professional education since 2019.

Pontus was awarded the Excellent Teacher degree in 2019.

Since March 2024 Pontus is assigned Deputy Vice Chancellor with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and sustainability.
