Working with

Associate professor (Docent) Dr Björn Åstrand is a senior lecturer in information technology with specialisation in mechatronics/autonomous systems. His research is on perception and cognition systems for mobile robots with application areas in agriculture robots, automatic guided vehicles, and self-driving vehicles.

Dr Björn Åstrand has contributed to signal processing and machine learning-based methods for semantic mapping, human tracking, agent behaviour modelling and intention estimation, object detection and classification, and a safety system for self-driving vehicles.

Dr Björn Åstrand teaches Electrical Circuits and Electronics, Design of Mechatronical Systems, Intelligent Vehicles, Robotics, Sensors, Signals and Systems and Signals and Sensors. He is course responsible and examiner for the Bachelor of Science thesis for the engineering programs. He has also supervised undergraduate and postgraduate theses and supervised PhD students.
