Interruption of studies
If you do not plan to take the course that you have already registered on, you must submit a notification of interruption of studies to the University. Please note that this decision can affect more than your study situation.
Two different types of interruption of studies
Depending on when during your study time you decide to interrupt your studies, various rules apply.
Early interruption of studies
If you discontinue your studies within first three weeks of the course (and have not obtained any credits), this counts as early interruption of studies and you can apply to the course/programme again in competition with other applicants.
Interruption after three weeks of studies
If you discontinue your studies more than three weeks after the course has started, you cannot apply to the course again. You can resume your studies if there are seats available by contacting the course or programme director. The credits you have already obtained are not affected and they remain in Ladok for students.
It is recommended to talk to your Programme Director before making an interruption of studies.
How to submit a notification of interruption of studies
A notification of interruption of studies can either be submitted via a digital form on the web or by an email to Service Center.

- If you do not use the form, you can send an e-mail to Service Center. Remember to include your student ID number or Swedish personal ID number and the name of your course/programme if you send an e-mail. The e-mail should be sent to servicecenter@hh.se. The interruption of studies applies from the date you send the email.
Consequences of interruption of studies
An interruption of studies could affect your residence permit, tuition fee, and ongoing scholarships. Your right to student accommodation may also be affected; check with the Student Union which rules apply.
Residence permit
If you are a tuition fee paying student with a residence permit for studies, your permit can be revoked if you interrupt your studies. The Migration Agency recommend us to inform you that they can revoke your permit for studies as the permit requires that you are actually studying. Learn more on the Migration Agency website for further information.

Scholarship
Students who have been awarded a Halmstad University Scholarship will no longer meet the conditions to keep the scholarship and the scholarship will be withdrawn.
