New student hub – a meeting place for students in the city
A place in the city center with study places, spaces to socialise and the opportunity to participate in fun activities. This is now a reality as a student hub has opened its doors on Brogatan 20. The hub will initially be open for a test period this spring until 31 May.
On Friday, a student hub was inaugurated in Halmstad city center. It is a 350 square meter meeting place for students where you can, among other things, study, hang out with friends, play games, or attend workshops or lectures and other activities. The student hub is run by Halmstad Student Union.
“We call it a living room for students in the city center. Mainly, you can sit here and study, but it is also an opportunity for a meeting place with external companies. We have also informed all student associations that they are welcome to use the premises if, for example, they are going to have an external lecture,” says Linnea Håkansson, President of Halmstad Student Union.

The idea for a student hub came after requests for a place in the city center for students.
“We've heard from students that they want to be in the city center a bit more and that they don't really feel like part of the city center. I think that's probably the most important thing, that you get to feel like you have a living room here and feel embraced by the city. We're shortening that link a bit, between the University and the city center,” says Linnea Håkansson.
At the student hub, the student's living room, you can study or just hang out.
The student hub has gone from idea to reality in a short time and now that the hub has opened, Linnea Håkansson and the Student Union are pleased with the result.
“It feels great. I am proud and impressed that it has gone as quickly and well as it has,” says Linnea Håkansson.
The student hub will initially be open during a test period this spring, between 15 March and 31 May, and then be evaluated for the future.
More about the student hub
The student hub is located at Brogatan 20 in Halmstad and is open Tuesday to Friday, during the spring, between 10.00 and 18.00. Staff are on site every day.
The student hub has been developed within Halmstad Heart Student, in collaboration with Berlings Fastigheter and Halmstad City. In the collaboration Halmstad Heart Student, Halmstad Student Union, Halmstad University and Halmstad Municipality work together to create a good study time for the University's students.
