Software for downloading
As a registered student at the University you have a possibility to download some software used in the education for use on your own computer. You are responsible for installation of software on your personal computer. You can also find links to several tutorials on the manufacturers' webpages.

Affinity software
Affinity supplies software for i.e. photo editing (Photo), graphical design (Designer) and print production (Publisher). The software is ONLY FOR academic use and NOT FOR commercial use. When your studies are ended you must uninstall the software. The license keys are valid for 365 days from installation. Then you need to retrieve a new license key.
Install Affinity software
- Order a license key. Log into Helpdesk and select 'Affinity V2' in the left menu and 'Request for license key'.
Helpdesk - Download the software by selecting one of the links below to download an installation file.
- Installation. Start the installation by double-clicking the program file. When prompted, type the Activation ID and the license key/password you received in step 1.

Autodesk (AutoCAD, Revit and 3ds)
Autodesk software, such as AutoCAD, Revit and 3ds, is used in 3D design, technology and entertainment for manufacturing and construction. The student license is valid for one year.
If you are asked to verify that you infact are a student, you can get a certificate of registration from Student Ladok and submit to Autodesk.

CES Edupack
Since the summer of 2020, the University no longer provides CES Edupack for students through the student account. If you want to use CES Edupack, you can access their material yourself via the link below. CES Edupack contains a unique set of teaching resources that support Materials Education across Engineering, Design, Science and Sustainable Development.

ClaroRead
ClaroRead is a software that facilitates your reading and writing, with functions such as out loud reading of texts and modification of text- and background colours in documents. There is also a function for correct spelling where the words are read out loud while writing. As a student at Halmstad University you get access to ClaroRead via the platform Skolon.

Grammarly
Grammarly Premium is a great tool that you can use when you are writing texts in English. Grammarly works both in your browser and as an app. Accounts in Grammarly are assigned through Helpdesk, for example when a teacher has applied for an entire class. If and when you as an individual student need an account, you can send in your own application via the link below.
Keep in mind that individual student accounts in Grammarly that are older than three months will be deleted in August every year. This means that you must re-apply for a license if you are still a student and want to keep your Grammarly account.

GX Works 2
Via the link below you can download GX Works, software used within the area of automatic control.

IAR Embedded Workbench
Here you can download a free trial version of IAR Embedded Workbench, a development environment for different circuits/processors.

JASP
Here you can download the statistics software JASP. JASP is used in programmes at the school of Health and Welfare, during the first year.

Learnesy
In Learnesy, you get access to digital basic courses in Excel, Powerpoint and Power BI via your student account.
- Each course consists of a number of chapters with lessons/films of up to two minutes.
- Each chapter includes one or two quizzes to verify the knowledge.
- The courses in their entirety take five to ten hours to complete, and you can do one or more lessons at a time.
You can log in to Learnesy in two ways, via Office 365 or via a link.
Log in through Office 365
When you are in Outlook or any of the University's Office programs via the browser, you can start Learnesy directly from there.
- Tap the box with nine dots in the top right corner and select All apps.
- Far down the list you will find Learnesy. If you click on the three buttons to the right of the icon, you can add the program higher up the list (Pin to the start icon). If you click directly on the Learnesy icon instead, you will be linked to the login page.
Select "Log in with your HH student account here", then you will be taken directly into Learnesy.
Log in via web link
On the Learnesy webpage (go via the link below), press the button "Log in with your HH student account here" to go to the University’s Learnesy.
If you are already logged in, in the browser, to Office 365, you will get access directly, otherwise you will have to fill in your usual login details.
Mathematica
This page only provides files for products covered by the site license of Mathematica at Halmstad University. There is no difference in functionality between this version and the one running at the University computer network other than the names "Mathematica for Students"/"Mathematica" and license numbers. You may not use this Student Version for commercial purposes and when you leave Halmstad University you are kindly asked to remove it from your computer. You may only install this version on one computer.

Install Mathematica
- First you need to create an account at the Wolfram User Portal.
- Wolfram User Portal External link.
- Use your Halmstad University email address as your “Wolfram ID” in order to personalize your installation of Mathematica. Select a password of your choice – make sure not to use the same one as for your student account at the University!
- Press the "Create Account" button. Follow the instructions.
- You must verify your account through a link in an e-mail sent to you from Wolfram.
- Go to the Wolfram User Portal and request an Activation key External link.
- Download the Mathematica media according to your computer platform.
- Run the installation media file.
- You should now be up and running. Enjoy!
Your Mathematica will run until the license expiration date stated in the Wolfram User Portal. This coincides with the major date of contract renewal between Halmstad University and Wolfram Research. The contract is normally extended beyond that date, one year at a time. In that case, you need a new activation key. If not sent to you automatically by email from Wolfram, you find yourself a new one as above.
Matlab
You can use Matlab in three different ways: by downloading the software, using the limited version Matlab Online through your web browser or by using the app Matlab Mobile. Sign in using your Halmstad University email adress and password.
The files you create in Matlab Online and Matlab Mobile are stored in Matlab Drive.
Microsoft Office 365
As a student you have access to Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus. You can use the software in your web browser, or download and install on up to 5 computers, 5 tablets and 5 phones. The software (regardless of whether you use them through your browser, or install them) will function as long as you have an active student account at Halmstad University.

Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching
Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching provides an opportunity for registered students at Halmstad University to download some of Microsoft's software for testing and use in their training. Installed applications can be maintained after completion of training but may not be used for commercial use.
Software licenses are linked to a product that is personal and allows downloading once. The software included in Microsoft Azure Dev Tools for Teaching are personal and may only be installed at home and used for non-commercial purposes in connection with studies. Licenses and software may not be sold, distributed or transferred.
The University provides no support for downloaded software.
The programmes are intended to be used for some kind of IT objective. It is your responsibility to read the contractual text that is shown at the installation of the program and to determine whether you meet the criteria.

Orcad PCB Design
Orcad PCB Design is a software tool suite used primarily for electronic design automation (EDA). You can order a student license for the software if you need to use the software in your studies.

R och RStudio
Statistics software R and RStudio are free, and can be downloaded to any computer.

- The first time you start R-Studio the computer suggests you to install XCode Command Line Tools and give you the opportunity to click 'Install Tools'. Do so.
SpellRight and StavaRex
SpellRight and StavaRex are advanced software for correct spelling for persons with reading and writing difficulties, but the software can also be used by anybody in need of support regarding correct spelling. SpellRight is for English and StavaRex for Swedish. As a student at Halmstad University you get access to the software via the platform Skolon.

SPSS
The software is ONLY for academic use and NOT for commercial use. When your studies are ended you must uninstall the software. The license keys are valid for one year.
If you are at the campus in Halmstad and will use SPSS only for some tasks you can use SPSS in one of these computer rooms: D208, FIH CAD-computers, M1, R1329, R3140, S1075, S3027, S3028 and S3051. Otherwise, follow the instructions below.
Install SPSS on your computer
- Log in to Helpdesk and get the license key for SPSS
- Choose Request license key.
- Once you have the license key, you can download the software itself as a zipped file on the same page in the Helpdesk. Choose between downloading for Windows or for Mac.
Install the software – PC users
- Start the installation by double-clicking the setup.exe file in the unzipped catalogue. The installation process is somewhat like this:
