Registration guide for new students
Before you can start your studies and get access to all the study material, there are a few steps you need to follow during the weeks before the semester starts.
Autumn semester registration
In order to confirm your place and start your studies at Halmstad University, you need to apply for an activation code, create a user account and register for your courses. Please follow below steps carefully to successfully register as a student at Halmstad University.
If you are a tution fee-paying student: Please note that by starting your registration, you will not be able to apply for a refund.
If you cannot start your studies on time, you have to contact us, as late arrivals need to be granted.
Registration process
1. Apply for activation code
In order to create a user account, you need to apply for an activation code.
Please note that this can be done earliest in August. Exact date will be confirmed.
- International programme students – Link to application form (to be updated in August)
Exchange students – Link to application form (to be updated in August) - Make sure to have a copy of your passport ready to upload.
- Fill out the form and submit.
After submitting the form you will receive an activation code by email. Please note that this might take a few days as the application form needs to be processed by the Student Affairs Department.
2. Create user account with activation code
You need to create a user account to be able to access all digital tools at Halmstad University.
Please note that step 2 and 3 can only be done in August. Specific dates will be confirmed.
- Go to the user account registration page and choose the activation code option.

- Follow the instructions on the page.
- After finishing the instructions you will be redirected to a page showing your user account login details, which you will use for all digital tools at Halmstad University. Please make sure to note your login details.
3. Register for your course
Once you have obtained your user account login details, you can register for your upcoming course.
- Please note that step 2 and 3 can only be done in August. Specific dates will be confirmed.
How to register
- Log in to Student Ladok.
Student Ladok - Enter the user account login details you've received after finishing step 2.
- Go to ’Upcoming’ on the first page in Student Ladok. Find the course you want to register for. Click on ’Register’ if your registration is open. If not, please contact Service Center.
- You are now registered for your course.

4. Attend the mandatory registration meeting
The mandatory registration meeting, "New at Halmstad University: An introduction lecture", will take place via Zoom, the week prior to the start of the semester. Exact date will be confirmed.
The link to the meeting will be visible in your schedule the day prior to the event. You have to inform Service Center well in advance, if you have a valid reason to not attend the meeting, otherwise your admission may be cancelled.
How to connect to the registration meeting
- You may need to download Zoom to participate. Click on the link to "New at Halmstad University" in your schedule, or the link above, to download the programme. Make sure to do this well in advance, before the scheduled time so that you can be there from the start. You can download Zoom to your phone or computer, but we recommend that you participate via a computer if you can.
- You may also need to enter your name and email address (both private addresses and university addresses are fine) to be able to participate. The University does not save this information.
- Click on ”Join webinar” to start.
Should you have technical problems and for example do not hear anything when you enter the introduction, you can try to leave the meeting and then log in again. If that does not work, you can contact our IT support via email. Write with your phone number in the email and that it concerns Newbie and send the email to helpdesk@hh.se, and IT will call you.
5. Start your studies
After you have finalised your registration, you can use all of the University's digital tools.
You will get access to course material and information about course literature in the learning platform called Blackboard. Please note that it might take a few hours after your registration is finalised until you can log in to Blackboard.
Find information about when and where you have your lectures via the schedule.
Log in to "My page" to get an overview of your studies, including a personalised schedule, course plans and practise exams as well as the student calendar and student news.
