Student Union
There are several ways for you to influence your studies during your time at Halmstad University. Getting involved in the Student Union is one way to make a difference.
The main mission of the Student Union is to oversee all programmes at Halmstad University. Educational oversight primarily involves working to improve education at the University for all students and doctoral candidates. The Union also ensures that there are fun events taking place outside school hours, which are managed by various student union bodies and committees. Membership in the Student Union is voluntary, but as a member, you have significant opportunities to, together with the Student Union, enhance both the University and your study experience, making it better and more enjoyable.

The Student Union's organisation
The Student Union is a membership-based organisation, meaning that it is the members who decide what the organisation should do. The Student Union consists of a union board, including a board of executives working full-time, representatives from all the organs of the Student Union, and up to five other members. The Student Union's executive board is the body that leads the work between its four annual member meetings and ensures that the decisions of the members are implemented. The executive board consists of a president, vice president with social responsibility, and vice president with educational responsibility.
Every spring, the process of appointing positions in both the executive board, the Union board, and the various boards of the Student Union begins. The Student Union is also the organisation responsible for appointing student representatives at Halmstad University.
University Friendship Organisation (UFO)
UFO is an organisation under the Student Union with the aim to organise events and activities for all students at Halmstad University. UFO is also in charge of the buddy programme where students can sign up to be matched with a student with a different nationality to exchange cultural knowledge and language skills.

As a student representative you get the chance to make your voice heard in decision-making processes. Contact the Student Union to sign up.
Membership
Membership in the Student Union is optional. As a member, you will get discounts in local shops and cafes, take part in the Fresher’s Week and other events at the student pub.

Halmstad Heart Student
Halmstad Heart Student is a collaboration between Halmstad University, Halmstad Student Union and Halmstad Municipality to make Halmstad a better student city.
Together we improve the role and situation of students in Halmstad through investments in well-being, career and participation. Halmstad Heart Student consists of five groups with different focus areas: Housing, Meaningful Leisure, Welcoming, Career Opportunities and Influence. It is a long-term collaboration with the aim of creating good conditions for developing Halmstad as a student city with rich student life and active student influence.

In April 2019, the Swedish Students' Union (SFS) named Halmstad Student City of the Year 2019/2020. Halmstad was rewarded for the close cooperation between the University, municipality, student union and students in several issues, which Halmstad Heart Student is of course a big part of.
