Student to student
Between 14.00 and 17.00, you will find student assistants at the information desk in the library who will be happy to answer any library, IT or language-related questions.
Student to student hours
The hours apply to weekdays during the semester.
Monday–Friday: 14.00–17.00
What you can ask
You can ask the students many different kinds of questions, for example:
Library questions
- How do I re-borrow or reserve a book?
- How do I access e-books or articles online?
- Which of the library’s guides are suitable to support me in searching for scientific material?
IT questions
- How do I download the essay template into Word?
- How do I print?
- What programmes are available for students to download? ¨
Questions about academic reading and writing
- I have difficulty reading academic texts, are there any strategies to try?
- I need to improve the language and structure of my texts. Do you have any tips?
- It is difficult to know how to take notes during a lecture. How do I get started?
If you do not get an answer to your question, the student workers can help you get in touch with the relevant support function at the University.
The students who will help you
You will meet student assistants who have been students for a while and are studying different programmes and courses. Most of them are also comfortable answering your question in English.
Adam Blombacke, student assistant
Which programme are you studying and which year?
“Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI), second year.”
How long have you been with Student to student?
“About a year and a half.”
What can you help other students with?
“Anything related to IT, but also information about Halmstad or the University itself.”
What are your best study tips?
“Actually put in the hours to study, even if it feels redundant. And don't forget to take breaks when you need to!”
What is your best tip for a new student?
“Don't let school take over your life. Make time for socialising and going to events. There are also lots of fun clubs for all kinds of interests, which is very rewarding.”
Ebba Tingström, student assistant
Which programme are you studying and which year?
“Psychology – Sport and Exercise, third year.”
How long have you been a part of Student to Student?
“Since 2023.”
What can you help other students with?
“Since I have been a student myself for two years, I have both study experience and an overview of what resources are available, so I am happy to help with that and give tips. There are no stupid questions, I myself have been new.”
What are your best study tips?
“Take breaks from studying and don't forget to have some free time. Also to get help from teachers (they are there for you) as well from schoolmates. Personally, I think it's easier to study with someone, so it's probably a good tip to find a study buddy, so you can help each other.”
What is the best tip for a new student?
“The best thing is if you can plan your studies, have a calendar or schedule, and start on time. Also explore the resources offered by the school. There are many activities both during and after school hours, as well as access to language guidance and student health services, for example.”
