Working with

Mahmoud is an assistant professor of machine learning at Halmstad University, Sweden. He has many years of experience working as a researcher and developer in academia and industry. Mahmoud collaborated with companies and industrial partners in predictive maintenance, intelligent mobility, and automatic idea detection projects. He visited Northern Illinois University as a research scholar from 2015 to 2016, and since 2019, he has been a member of the Center for Applied Intelligent Systems Research (CAISR) at Halmstad University. Mahmoud’s research interests are machine learning, robotics, natural language processing, and predictive maintenance.

Some Professional Highlights:

• Organizer of the Discovery Challenge ECML-PKDD 2024 titled “Developing a Data-driven Model for Predicting Failure Risk Levels for a Component of Volvo Heavy-duty Trucks” at ECML-PKDD 2024 conference in collaboration with Volvo Group Truck Technologies. https://www.hh.se/english/about-the-university/events/discovery-challenge-ecml-pkdd-2024.html

• Lecturer at Machine Learning for Predictive Maintenance and Big Data Parallel Programming courses and lecturer and responsible for the Applied Data Mining course at Halmstad University.

• Co-supervisor of two PhD students and have supervised more than 20 master students for their final thesis.

• Examiner of the Degree Project in Computer Science and Engineering at Halmstad University.
