Research

Dr Kristén’s research is focused on children and young people with functional disabilities and their inclusion in Physical Education, sport and health promoting activities through Adapted Physical Activity (APA). In addition, Dr Kristén’s work has focused on the effect of physical activity on health and the importance of social support. Research and teaching in the area is pursued in close cooperation with national and international networks which are described below. Dr Kristén is interested in all questions relating to Physical Education, Sport, Health and APA but also strives to contribute towards the development of research, teaching and cooperative ventures with the surrounding community in the pedagogical sector as a whole. Dr Kristén strives for the promotion of the Life Quality area of excellence at Halmstad University as well as the adoption of a diversity perspective in pedagogy and educational science.

Teaching

Dr Kristén teaches on the Teacher Education Programme where he is Head of Physical Education and on the Sports Science degree programme. He also teaches courses in Handicapped and Disability Studies and Adapted Physical Activity (APA) where he has himself developed special pedagogical courses. Dr Kristén is a qualified teacher IN Physical Education and Health specialising in rehabilitation and Sports for the disabeld and has worked both in schools and in the health care sector. He supervises student degree projects at the C (61-90 higher education credits) and D (91-120 credit) levels.
