Students affected by the apartment fire are well given the circumstances
Last night, on April 7, there was a fire in a house at Östra stranden in Halmstad. Some of the residents in the apartment building are students at Halmstad University. Around 10 students have stated that they are registered at an address in the area. They have been contacted by the University and are doing well given the circumstances. However, there may be more students who are affected by the fire but who are not registered at an address in the area, and they are encouraged to contact the University.
”We have talked to the students who have stated that they live in the area, three of whom have the current house as their address. All are doing well, but we do not know right now if their homes are affected.”
Brita Lundh, Head of Student Affairs
”We have talked to the students who have stated that they live in the area, three of whom have the current house as their address. All are doing well, but we do not know right now if their homes are affected”, says Brita Lundh, Head of Student Affairs at Halmstad University.
It is of high importance for the the University to get in touch with all students who have been affected by the fire.
”We want to help our students in any way we can and therefore ask all affected to contact our Service Center as soon as possible”, says Brita Lundh.
The house involved in the fire is not a student accommodation and is thus not part of Halmstad Student Union’s real estate company.
”It is terribly sad and a tragedy for those who have lost their homes. We can offer apartments at our student accommodation to the students who have been affected by the fire”, says Timmie Hansson, President of Halmstad Student Union.
